What’s a doula?

“Caregiver”

“One who mothers the mother”

“A woman that serves”

A trained and experienced birth companion. I tenderly support you (birthing humans) and your partner(s) as you become a new family.

As a birth doula I am here for you every step of the way, offering continuous emotional support, physical comfort, and assistance in obtaining information before, during, and just after childbirth. As a postpartum doula I support your family as you navigate life with a newborn.

Birth Doula

Your birth experience matters, and I am here to nurture and protect it to the best of my scope and abilities. My clients know that I take on their values, wishes, and desires as if they were my own in their birth space. As a trauma-informed professional, protecting your right to the autonomy of your body and choices throughout your birth experience are of upmost priority.

I am deeply humbled and honored by the opportunity it is to be chosen to serve you during your birth. I support home, hospital, and birth center births.

Package includes:

  • A comprehensive workbook chalk-full of tools to help you navigate prenatal/postpartum options.
  • Two prenatal consults (typically 2+ hours each) where I provide you with individualized support. This may look like navigating birth options, identifying your birth goals/values, help with writing your birth plan/wishes, reviewing comfort measures for labor, connecting you to resources, and many more.
  • Availability for texts/emails/calls anytime for any/all questions you have.
  • I remain on-call for your birth, which means I am available 24/7 around the time of your birth window for calls/texts/in-person support.
  • Continuous support throughout labor, birth, and the first hour or two after baby’s arrival. In early labor you may prefer support over the phone, but I will be ready to join you in-person whenever you need me.
  • One to two postpartum meetings (60 minutes each) where we process your birth experience, if desired. I also support questions with breastfeeding, healing after birth, and connect you with resources if needed.

Postpartum Doula

When a baby is born, a family is born, and what a tender and vulnerable time that can be.

A mother’s postpartum journey is a time of great need. The physical, emotional, and psychological changes a birthing parent goes through means an abundance of support is essential to family bonding and healing. While for most the postpartum period is understandably challenging, planning for quality help may mean the difference between feeling overwhelmed and feeling empowered.

Not all help is created equal: Many of us have loved ones that mean well, but aren’t actually helpful. The mental load of dealing with “unsupportive support” can be utterly exhausting during the postpartum time. With an experienced postpartum doula, you won’t have to worry about complicated family dynamics or feeling obliged to support or behave in any way. I gently enter your space and support you and your family in whatever way is needed, without judgement or criticism.

Services include:

  • Support with rest and healing
  • Sitz bath preparation for perineal healing
  • A listening ear (again, no judgement here!)
  • Support identifying baby’s cues (hunger, fatigue, etc.)
  • Support with feeding (breastfeeding and/or formula feeding)
    • Latching
    • Pumping
    • Bottle prep
  • Light housekeeping and meal prep
  • Support with older siblings
  • & many more!
